Application Guide

DECORATIVE PANEL FRAME BONDING

PREPARATION OF INTERNAL SUBSTRATE WOOD, SUCH AS TEAK, BEACH, OR OTHER EXOTIC WOODS.

  1. Abrade the contact area with a sanding pad, (120 grit), and remove dust.
  2. Brush or wipe the surface clean removing any dust or debris, use a clean lint free cloth and wipe down area with clean water. (no solvents required).

PREPARATION OF STEEL, GEL COAT, ALUMINIUM, STAINLESS STEEL, 2 PACK PAINT, CARBON FIBRE ETC…

  1. Lightly abrade the contact area with a sanding pad, (100 grit)
  2. Brush or wipe the surface clean removing any dust or debris, use a clean lint free cloth.
  3. Clean the surface with 100% alcohol cleaner or Methylated spirits using a clean, lint free cloth.

VERTICAL & OVERHEAD PANEL FRAMES BONDING ONTO TIMBER SUBSTRATE

  1. Apply parallel beads of FMP100, in a 5mm diameter run. Or use dollops at specific locations to ensure the capacity is enough to support the weight and that the frame will not deflect under load.
  2. Assemble components within 10 minutes of adhesive application.
  3. Panel frames, must be help in place for 2 hours with clamps or props placing pressure on the bonding area.
  4. After 2 hours the props or clamps can be removed, and within 12 hours load can be applied to the frame when the temperature is 23oC at RH55%. See TDS for cure rate.

VERTICAL & OVERHEAD PANEL FRAMES BONDING ONTO STEEL, GEL COAT, ALUMINIUM, FIBREGLASS etc.

  1. Apply parallel runs of Fix15(MSP15), or Fix190 (MSP190) FWT Fast Working Time, in a 10mm x 10mm triangular shape. Or use dollops at specific locations to ensure the capacity is enough to support the weight and that the frame will not deflect under load.
  2. Assemble components within 10 minutes of adhesive application.
  3. Panel frames, if required, may be held in place with clamps or support brackets, which can be removed after 12-24 hours. Full strength is attained after approximately 7 days.

FLOOR & WALL PANEL OR TILE SURFACE BONDING

  1. Apply Fix30 bedding adhesive to the previously prepared surface and spread over the area to be covered. The bed thickness may vary depending on the thickness of any gap requiring filing, (normally 1-2mm).
  2. The deck panel must be positioned accurately within the tack free time of the Fix30 adhesive, and pressed firmly in place to avoid air entrapment.
  3. Clamps, weights, or screws (removable), can also be used to secure the panel while the adhesive sets.
  4. 80% of the panel or tile surface areas must be in contact with adhesive and substrate. 100% of all edges must be embedded into the adhesive.
