BONDING TIMBER COMPONENTS

PREPARATION OF UNTREATED TIMBER SUBSTRATES, (TEAK, MAHOGANY, BEECH, PLYWOOD, HARDWOODS AND MANY OTHERS)

  1. Abrade the contact area of each timber to be bonded with 100 grit sanding pad, and remove dust with a vacuum.

  2. Wipe clean with a lint free cloth rinsed in clean water.

  3. Do not use acetone or alcohol cleaners, there is no need.

APPLICATION OF FMP100 or FMP200

  1. Apply a line of FMP100 as required so that when the pieces are pushed together it will displace enough FMP100 to cover the bonding area. If unsure take a metal of plastic spatular and spread the FMP100 evenly over one surface only.

  2. Clamp the timbers together, the harder the clamp force the better the bond.

  3. FMP100 will slowly expand 3X and lightly penetrate into the substrate of the timber.

  4. In 2 hours the reaction will be over and clamps can be removed. The joint is soild, yet still weak, yet it allows you to sand and prepare the timbers for other applications.

  5. Quicker and easier than epoxy any time and any day.

What’s the difference between FMP100 and FMP200.

  1. FMP100 contains no solvents and comes in a cartridge. FMP100 has a paste like consistency and it can be applied in all directions, translucent in colour will brown with sun, can create a 100% invisible join.

  2. FMP200 contains a small amount of solvent and comes in a squeeze bottle and is like honey consistency and is best applied in the vertical downwards direction, honey in colour and will brown with sun, can create a 100% invisible join.
