Product:
Fix 30 is a solvent and water free universal flexible adhesive. Suitable for bonding many types of timber, stone, marble, granite and other products onto a variety of substrates. It is ideal for exotic timbers and suitable for external and internal applications for marine, transport and construction industries. Ability to feather edge build without shrinkage or cracking, sound absorbtion, impact resistance and flexibility. Fix 30 cures by means of a chemical reaction within the adhesive. Once cured (approx. 24hrs @ 21°C and 50% R.H) an elastic non shrinkable adhesive layer is formed, which is resistant to heat and moisture.
Characteristics:
– Ready to use
– Single component
– EC-1 label, very low emissions
– Solvent free
– Water free
– Free of Isocyanates
– Easy application
– Feather edge to 10mm
– Form stable peaks when applied by notched trowel
– Rapid cure and buildup of final bond strength
– Permanently elastic
– Suitable for marine teak decks
– Suitable for parquetry flooring systems
– High final bond strength (DIN 281)
Applications:
Fix 30 is suitable for bonding all types of wooden and stone floors and walls such as solid, prefinished parquet wood plank, granite, marble and laminates. Suitable for use on porous and nonporous surfaces such as mosaic, anhydrite, concrete screeds, timber, fibreglass, aluminium, Medium Density Fibre Board (MDF), steel,
granite, marble and floors with underfloor heating.
Packaging:
Packaging – 600mL foil bag
Shelf life:
12 months foil bags; from production date In unopened packaging in a cool and dry storage place at temperatures between +5°C and 23°C.
Substrate:
Before installation of the adhesive the surface should be checked to ensure suitability. Check the moisture content of the entire substrate with a carbide or electric hygrometer. The moisture content must be as recommended by the covering manufacturer. Max 2% for sand and cement surfaces; max 0.5% for anhydrite. For substrates with underfloor heating max values are 1.5% and 0.3% respectively.
Fix 30 should be applied to an even, dry, clean and smooth surface which is free from irregularities and cracks. Residue of existing adhesives may affect adhesion and must be removed. Loose or damaged surfaces must be repaired before application.
Powdery and or porous substrates can be treated with a suitable epoxy sealer (please consult our technical department for suitability) or FixSeal Epoxy Sealer.
Subfloors with a higher moisture content than described can be treated in the above manner after consulting our technical department.
Gel coat, aluminium and steel substrates should be abraded with 120grit. All substrates should be clean and free from dust, dirt, oil and grease. When installing over the top of marble, terrazzo or ceramic tiles the substrate must be cleaned with caustic soda or another suitable cleaner. Substrate must be completely dry and clean prior to adhesive application
Parquet:
The parquet flooring must be aclimatised for several days in the area where it is to be installed. Leave the parquet in its original packaging until installation to avoid deformation.
Check the moisture content prior to installation is as recommended by the supplier. Moisture content should be approx. 9% ± 2%; if the moisture content is greater than 11% installation is not recommended. Allow a perimeter gap of 1-1.5cm of the laid parquet including any structures which penetrate the floor.
Adhesive Application:
Fix 30 should be acclimatised to room temperature prior to installation. Apply the adhesive with a suitable notched (2-4mm) trowel to both surfaces. Do not apply to a greater area than can be completed in 20 minutes. Slide the covering onto the adhesive and tap into place. A minimum of 80% contact coverage is required to ensure good adhesion. Weighting the coverings will improve adhesion. Allow a minimum of 24hrs before sanding and finishing.
Clean up:
Uncured Fix 30 can be removed with Methylated Spirits or a suitable alcohol based cleaner. Cured adhesive must be removed mechanically.
Health and Safety:
Apply the usual industrial hygiene precautions. Wear protective gloves and safety glasses.
Recommendations:
– -Do not install to substrates, which are not protected against rising damp.
– Do not apply at temperature below 15°C or above 35°C. Minimum surface temp 15°C.
– Do not apply when relative humidity exceeds 75%
– Do not install to substrates with a moisture content exceeding manufacturer or supplier recommendations.
– Do not install to substrates with moisture content under 7%.
– Do not install in areas directly after painting or plastering
– Do not dilute the adhesive
– Do not use paint prep in the preparation of timber substrates and covering
Application:
Method: Manual or pneumatic caulking gun
Application temperature: +15°C to 35°C
Clean up: Methylated Spirits or alcohol cleaner immediately after application and before curing
Tooling: mild diluted soapy solution before skin formation
Repair: Fix 30
Remarks:
Fix 30 can be applied to a wide variety of substrates. Due to the fact that the specific properties of substrates will differ from manufacturer to manufacturer we strongly recommend compatibility tests.
